NORTHERN SOUTH HAMS

Tree 15. Descendants of Samuel MUCKMORE
(Totnes 165x)

The earliest members of this tree came from Totnes. DNA evidence is ambiguous as to whether they migrated to Totnes from the southern South Hams (Trees 02-13) or were somehow connected with the Buckfastleigh MICHELMOREs (Trees 16-19). This tree is placed in the Northern South Hams section purely for geographical reasons.

About 1780, William 0114 moved to London and founded a dynasty there. A map that includes the places where they lived in London is accessible on the web site .

His first descendant to leave London was Horatio Roland 0120, who moved to the Isle of Wight about 1837. In the 1860s, Horatio Edward 2492 moved to West Derby, Liverpool. His brother George Henry 0197 emigrated to New South Wales, Australia, about 10 years later, followed by his nephew Edward 0198 a further 10 years after that.

Underlining (if any) indicates changes made at the latest update.

It is not known what brought Annie and her daughters Nellie & Ethel to Canada in 1911/1912. Mrs JOYCE party consisted of a large number of women, mostly single domestics, destined for various parts of Canada.

Records of Nellie's date of birth in her baptism register (23Aug1898) and in 1939 are inconsistent with her birth registration. The date on her death registration seems correct, however.
